Social businesses are cool. Hands Up Not Handouts is one of them.
Based on the idea to “[use] business principles and business accountability to help women”–namely in Palestine and Rwanda–“help themselves”, this company hopes to set off a chain of positivity with each design they sell. As their website proclaims:
“When you buy our designs, the women earn more income, which gives them more stability and more influence in their families and communities. Their families eat better, they can afford better health care, and their kids can go to school. These life-changing results happen when you empower women and purchase with purpose from Hands Up Not Handouts.”
Doing good, spreading art, and working together with others. Simple, positive, and all-around cool.
Nothing wrong with that.
